After the first batch of EU Procurement Rules were made law in February, the UK Government is seeking public consultation on the implementation of the next raft of EU regulations.
The Crown Commercial Service and Cabinet Office are consulting on two new regulations to further simplify the procurement process, the utilities contracts consultation and the concessions contracts.
The new procurement rules aim to make it faster and less costly to buy goods and services. The changes will enable a more modern, flexible and commercial approach, making the public procurement process faster, less costly, and more effective for businesses and buyers.
The UK Government consulting on the draft regulations for utilities contracts to see whether they implement the new EU Utilities Directive effectively.
The consultation continues the UK Government’s ongoing programme of engaging UK stakeholders to modernise the EU procurement rules, with an aim to bringing these regulations into effect by April 2016.
The draft regulations are now available for public consultation. The closing date for responses is 18 September 2015.
