As Professor of Responsible Procurement at the University of Liverpool’s Management School, my research centres on systems of power, modern slavery in supply chains, social value in public procurement, and responsible business. My work advocates for “business-NOT-as usual” to address the twin emergencies of climate change and social inequality. My research explores commercial practices that allow harm to persist, and crucially, what might be done to enable systemic change.

Since 2022, I have served as the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Business. My role connects researchers across management disciplines to enable impactful, multidisciplinary work through translating our research evidence for policymakers and businesses. The Centre aims to understand and promote the positive impacts that responsible business practice can have on both people and the natural world.
